Diapers — A Practical Guide 🍼

A practical guide to diapers in ABDL and regression spaces for consenting adults. Not medical advice, not for minors.

Why diapers show up in ABDL

For many people diapers are a central part of ABDL or regression. Reasons vary a lot:

  • Feeling small, looked after, or safely contained
  • Sensory comfort — the padding, crinkle sounds, pressure, and warmth
  • Enjoying them as part of a kink or adult dynamic
  • Daily wear for comfort or lifestyle reasons
  • Medical or incontinence needs

Some members wear daily, others only occasionally or during specific activities. There's no correct way as long as it's consensual and adult.

Types of diapers

ABDL / Specialty — Designed for the community with fun prints, thick padding, and a more "little" aesthetic. Brands like Tykables, ABUniverse, Rearz, Bambino, and many others. See our diaper brands page for a full list.

Medical / Plain — More neutral appearance, often easier to store or dispose of discreetly. Brands like Abena, Northshore, Tranquility, Molicare, and TENA are popular choices.

Pull-ups & training pants — Underwear style, often used for middle or training themes.

Boosters & stuffers — Extra padding inserts for added absorbency.

Plastic pants / covers — Worn over a diaper for leak protection or sensory feel.

Fit & comfort

Getting the right fit matters for both comfort and leak prevention:

  • Measure your waist and hips according to the manufacturer's size chart
  • Avoid sizes that dig in, cut circulation, or leave deep marks
  • Change regularly — overfilling causes leaks and skin irritation
  • Different brands fit differently — it's normal to try a few before finding what works

Skin care & hygiene

Diapers involve moisture and friction so a little care goes a long way:

  • Use gentle wipes or a soft washcloth — avoid harsh scrubbing
  • Let skin dry fully before applying creams or a fresh diaper
  • A barrier cream or nappy rash ointment helps if you're prone to irritation
  • Avoid heavily fragranced products that irritate your skin
  • If you notice persistent rash, pain, or skin issues take a break and consider speaking to a doctor

Privacy & storage

Many people live with roommates or family where privacy matters:

  • Store supplies in opaque bins, drawers, or a closet
  • Double-bag used diapers and dispose of them promptly
  • Avoid leaving used items where others can find them
  • Be honest with partners if your use might affect them

Consent & partners

Diapers can be emotionally vulnerable. A few reminders:

  • Partners are never obligated to participate in ABDL or diaper play
  • It's okay to have limits — wearing but not mess, only in private, etc.
  • Check in with yourself and others after intense scenes or big feelings
  • Communicate openly about what you need and what you're comfortable with
